Tie Breaking

In the IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) exam, when exam is tie then a tie-breaking mechanism shall be applied by the regional coordinator.

Or in case of a tie for the closing ranks then a tie-breaking mechanism shall be applied then a tie-breaking mechanism shall be applied by the regional coordinator.

*Time Division
For participants of Class 3rd to 12th, they will be required to finish own test between minimum 40 to maximum 60 minutes.Because this time gap is beneficial at Tie-Up of your exam.You can’t submit your answer sheets before 40 minutes, and you should try to submit your answer sheet with maximum correct answers.If you submit your answer sheet before after end of 40 minutes, then you will get the benefit of the third tie-breaker** rule.

**Tie-breaker
Each question may not carry the same mark. In the case of tie-up exam, the preference will be given to that student who has attempted a maximum number of questions correctly, and second preference will be given to following respect:

Firstly Mathematics related question and secondly mental ability and reasoning. Third preference will be given to those students, who has submitted the answer sheet before the others. If tie-up still exist, then a telephonic interview will be led with the participant.secondly mental ability and reasoning.
